Making An Impact; Physically

Christians need to be making an impact in our country in five areas; physically, mentally, socially, spiritually and financially.

Right now, all we’re doing is going to church on Sunday, listening to music and preaching and that’s about it.

We work toward building big churches but for what?

Don’t get me wrong, I’m working on impacting as many as I can for Jesus but here’s my point.

I can draw a crowd by setting my car on fire in the middle of my street.

I can draw a bigger crowd by setting my house on fire.

People will say this guy is so cool.  He does the funniest things.  But all I’m doing are things that draw crowds.

I’ve been there.  I’ve done that.

I’ve had the Christmas and Easter productions that drew the thousands.  I did the Sunday morning thing where people would come and enjoy the music.

But they would just leave like the folks did after watching the car and the house burn, ready to come back and see something bigger.

When are we going to learn?

People, we’ve got to start leaving church and making an impact on our community.

Let’s start affecting people physically. Let’s become people of God who are examples of a physically fit lifestyle and not fat and lazy people.  Let’s quit eating junk that cause the illnesses and disease that leads us to have to be the ones who need the miracles.

Let’s be the one who impacts our community by taking care of these temples of God.

Put down the chicken and the mash potatoes.  Let’s work that gut and butt off and get in shape for Jesus sake.

That’s what I think about it

  1. If I remember, Jesus did quite a bit of “physical” ministry. Thanks for the reminders.

  2. Just imagine, if we could put down all that “junk,” whatever it may be–food, reading material, inappropriate movies, lewd jokes, wastefulness, lying, lethargy, laziness, antagonism…………wow, imagine! We wouldn’t be the ones needing a miracle–and we could save the miracles for those who truly need it: people with diseases, widows, children without parents, people without hope, the lowly and suffering, the despised, the forsaken, the lost, the dying……

    Just imagine.

“Work hard to show the results of your salvation, obeying God with deep reverence…..For God is working in you, giving you the desire and the power to do what pleases Him.” Philippians 2:13

I agree that it takes more than words to make an impact. It takes more than “burning a car.” It takes action…..daily christian action. But, we cannot make an impact on others if we are not living it ourselves. If we haven’t allowed God to make an impact in our own life, how can we make any impact, at all, in someone else’s? Moments are not lasting unless they are laced with the promises given and taught through our Father’s great and mighty Word.

    Just imagine…..

  3. It has to start with oneself. How can you light a spark in someone if you are not on fire yourself.

Give a man a fish and he eats for a day… Set a man on fire and he is warm for the rest of his life
